Oakland University Undergraduate Computer Research (UnCoRe) Program in Cybersecurity

We are now accepting applications for the summer 2021 UnCoRe program in CyberSecurity at Oakland University. The application deadline is February 28, 2021. The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department at Oakland University (OU) focuses on interdisciplinary Cyber Security & Privacy research at the interface of Mobile security, Network Security, Data Security, Digital Forensics, Internet of things (IoT) security and Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) security. Faculty participants from the School of Engineering and Computer Science (SECS), inspires students by creating an atmosphere of excitement and creativity. Each REU participant will work directly with SECS faculty members and their research groups and be part of the larger SECS community.

The UnCoRe has a record of success, many of former UnCoRe students attend graduate school and have received several awards and honors including but not limited to:

  • Best Poster at the 2018 IEEE International Conference in Consumer Electronics (ICCE)
  • Fulbright award
  • Best Full Paper at the 12th annual Cyber and Information Security Research Conference (CISRC2017)
  • Student scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in Computer Science at Stanford University
  • 2 Research projects were listed at the NSF REU site as a nugget
  • The NIH F31 Predoctoral Fellowship
  • 2 Research grants from the Michigan Space Grant Consortium
  • Award for Outstanding Research Poster in the Annual Meeting and Student Research Conference, Los Angeles, California

ELIGIBILITY

  • Undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science or Computing-Related Fields.
  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
  • Minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply

AWARD

  • $6,000 stipend
