Jr Oracle Developer/ APEX (Summer Intern) with ACE

POSITION TITLE Jr Oracle Developer/ APEX (Summer Intern)

DEPARTMENT Academic + Campus Events

PURPOSE

Under the close supervision of the Sr. Database Developer, you will assist the Academic + Campus events development team in redeveloping and enhancing the current UofT’s departmental room booking system, working within established development standards. The development environment consists of Oracle database and Apex in a Windows environment. This is an exciting opportunity to explore in the field of web development. The objective is to make this application easier to use, mobile friendly and user customizable. Online training will be provided in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and the APEX development environment,

QUALIFICATION:

Education: Working towards a University degree in Computer Science or Engineering or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.

Experience: Some experience in database development
Introductory SQL database development experience.
Understanding of User Interface design with JavaScript or HTML5 or CSS or AJAX Windows
Some experience working with Oracle RDBMS and overall Oracle system/ environment architecture is desirable.

Other: Understanding of application deployment approaches.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge of developing enterprise-level service-oriented components
Team player.
Quick learner.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Develop and implement the system modules in PLSQL and APEX.
• Assist in database design
• Create detailed data models and design documents for the approved requirements of the system
• Conduct user testing and system integration testing and participate actively during the Quality assurance phase.
• Prepare and present status reports.
• Prepare deployment packages and participate in the deployment process
• Recommend improvements to current methodology and processes
• Assess , analyze and evaluate and recommend alternative for projects and work packages
• Liaise with staff in the development of test strategy, test cases and test scripts for the system, performance and usability and acceptance testing of system solutions developed
• Assist in user manual and technical documentation
