In order it improve the user experience, we wanted to let you know that we are
increasing Teaching Labs remote server access by an additional NX server.
Our original NX server is known as nxsrv.teach.cs.toronto.edu
Some of you may still refer to it as nxsrv1.teach.cs.toronto.edu
It answers to both names.
Our new NX server is nxsrv2.teach.cs.toronto.edu
Both servers have identical hardware and run independently of each other.
A NX session on one server does not transfer over to the other server.
A reminder, NX instructions for nxsrv.teach.cs.toronto.edu are found at
https://www.teach.cs.toronto.edu/using_cdf/remote_access_server.html
The easiest way to use the nxsrv2.teach.cs.toronto.edu is to change the
‘Host’ entry in your NX configuration to ‘nxsrv2.teach.cs.toronto.edu’.
Alternatively, you can create a new configuration with a different name.
For Linux nxclient, use ‘nxclient --wizard’ to create a new session.
For all platforms, you will need to re-import our ssh private key.
Starting next week, we will be having weekly brief downtimes for both
NX servers. This should only take a few minutes, but we are scheduling
1 hour for worst case.
nxsrv1.teach.cs.toronto.edu Tuesdays 8am-9am
nxsrv2.teach.cs.toronto.edu Fridays 8am-9am
Please let us know if you have any problems, concerns or questions by email to
