The CMS Winter Meeting is going virtual from December 3-8 and the Student Committee has lots of student activities lined up: Student Social, Student Research Talks, Poster Session, and Mini-Course in Mathematical Communication. We encourage both undergraduate and graduate students to participate.
StudC will provide a virtual coupon to waive the registration fee to the meeting to students that give a talk or present a poster, so don’t miss out on this great opportunity to share your research and network with people from across the country!

Student Social:

Student Research Talks Session:
Present your research to your peers in a 20-minute talk! All research areas in pure/applied math, statistics, and math education will be considered.
Interested students should submit a title and abstract with their name and affiliation to studc-winter20-session@cms.math.ca before 11:59p.m. EST on Friday, November 20th. Students selected to present will be notified shortly after their submissions has been received.
AARMS-CMS Student Poster Session:
Get creative and design a poster describing your research! All poster presentations will be judged by a jury of professors, and the top three winners will be awarded prizes.
Interested students should submit a title and abstract with their name and affiliation to studc-winter20-poster@cms.math.ca before 11:59p.m. EST on Friday, November 20th. Students selected to present will be notified shortly after their submission has been received.
Mini-Course:
The student committee of the CMS has prepared a (free!) mini-course on communication in mathematics. We will hear about how to write a good paper (with mathematical modelling as an example), how to write good scholarships and fellowships applications, and how the recent pandemic has influenced communication in mathematics.
Speakers: Mike Bennett (University of British Columbia), Robert Smith? (University of Ottawa), and NSERC.

Au programme : comment bien écrire un article de recherche (avec la modélisation mathématique comme exemple), comment faire de bonnes demandes de bourse et comment la récente pandémie a impacté la communication en mathématiques.
