ThriveKids Technologist looking for Mentors

ThriveKids Inc. is looking for experienced, Technology Expert who loves working with exceptional kids. We are looking for energetic, fun, and deeply passionate individuals to provide develop and innovative programming to our clients (kids ages 5 to 13) with or without exceptionalities. The ThriveKids approach requires a kind and empathetic approach so your personality and skill must align!

At ThriveKids, we inspire kids to see their futures as inventors, entrepreneurs, and innovators. We are looking for a technology based children’s instructor to develop curriculum and teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) programs to help kids move from being consumers to creators. We run workshops, camps, programs and parties, plus we visit schools and are opening a school of our own!!

Your job will be to develop and enhance ThriveKids programming – after school programs, camps, sampler sessions, and other workshops and events.

Program content primarily includes Robotics, Coding and 3D Printing. Our current curriculum needs to be expanded and optimized for all developmental stages.

Other tasks may include the following: auditing sessions, developing new activities, creating curriculum content, teaching shop organization, materials purchasing, coordinating events, taking sales calls, etc. as necessary.

Learning the Role

You don’t have to have to have perfected the full range of technical skills that kids will need for their projects. What we want to see from you is the Innovative spirit – an ability to write curriculum that encourages creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic development of technical and social skills.

Role Details

This position is contract-based, with an expected duration of around 15-20 hours a week. Work hours are flexible, but availability must include class time - some flexibility available. You have to be able to see what we are doing now, in order to know what we need to enhance our programming. You’ll also be required at some weekend events.

Qualifications

  • You have a degree in education, whether it is a university degree in education (BEd, MEd), or in Early Childhood Education, Special Education or other work with children with exceptionailties.
  • You have a solid foundation of science and technology, especially in robotics, coding, and 3D printing (or are able to learn quickly).
  • You’re a creative and energetic person who likes working with kids and exploring new ideas
  • You’re comfortable using electronics, computer software, hardware and various other technologies
  • You have excellent communication skills, written and oral, and experience communicating with children and their families

You’re have an Inventive mind and are a Maker, with interest and experience designing and creating things, e.g. coding, electronics, robotics, crafting or some other way you entertain yourself and others with your creativity
