Seeking Computer Scientist for a Project Measuring Refugee Integration

The Global Migration Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy seekers to hire a student for a project on data-driven approaches to measuring refugee integration. The position will start immediately, and will involve working with an evolving dataset to develop interactive, web-based data visualizations using R and Shiny.

The project offers competitive pay, either hourly or per task, and while the initial contract will be short term, there is opportunity for long-term work if the candidate proves competent and reliable.

Requirements:
-Bachelor’s or graduate degree with a focus in data analytics, mathematics, computer science, statistics, econometrics, or social science-organizational-operations research;
-Experience building interactive dashboards using the R programming language and Shiny package; and related R-packages, such as Leaflet, RpostgreSQL, and others;
-Familiarity with visualizing data using plotly/ggplotly, d3.js, or similar software;
-Experience using R to retrieve real-world data via APIs, and cleaning it to create analytically tractable data sets.
-Flexible schedule and ability to begin work immediately.

Additional skills:
-Familiarity with software development methodologies like Agile, including issue/workflow tracking tools like Jira and version control tools like Git and Bitbucket.
-Familiarity with real-world social interventions and randomized control trials.
-Familiarity with refugee and migration issues.
