Humans of Canada – Web Developer (Volunteer)
The Humans of Canada (HoC) team is looking for a web developer to help build a HoC site by the end of December. This website will profile the stories of Canadians (similar concept to Humans of New York: http://www.humansofnewyork.com/). You should have experience in web design, strive for excellence in your work and seek to develop engaging sites for any audience. You will be working with a team of over 10 passionate young professionals. Note that web development is expected to be completed by the end of December. The process will consist of: website conceptualization, strategic alignment with other social media platforms, development, testing, launch and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the web design team to conceptualize and develop an engaging and accessible HoC website to profile the stories of Canadians.
- Participate in group meetings with other members of the HoC team
- Advise on best practice and trends in web development, coming up with creative engagement methods for a diverse audience
Requirements:
- Good communication, multitasking, and work prioritization skills
- Self-directed, proactive and accountable problem solver
- Highly organized, thorough and motivated. Pays attention to the details
- Ability to work independently and on teams
- Hands on knowledge of: HTML5, CSS3, Javascript. Experience with Bootstrap is a good asset, but not a requirement
- Knowledge of developing for cross platform/browser compatibility and accessibility
