WHAT DOES THIS JOB ENTAIL?

The Embedded Systems Engineer will contribute to the development of Artificial Intelligence driven sensing solutions designed for the food and agriculture sector. The individual will design, develop, and test embedded software/firmware for Savormetrics’ biophysical and biochemical sensing devices. In this role, as the Embedded Systems Engineer, the individual will design and implement firmware, communication interfaces, system logic as well as verify sensor measurements and calibration. The ideal candidate will be familiar with various hardware electronics including low power microcontroller designs, development and testing of embedded firmware, control systems, and sensor interfaces. The candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment and exhibit strong technical skills and self-motivation.

WHAT EXACTLY WOULD YOU BE DOING?

  • Writing embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontroller and digital signal processor applications,
  • Will utilize strong knowledge of Unix/Linux environments and kernel development,
  • Sourcing, procuring, and debugging embedded systems/microcontrollers,
  • Low power electronics design and prototyping,
  • Interfacing with software development team,
  • Investigating, prototyping and delivering new and innovative system solutions,
  • Utilizing experience with POC development and debugging,
  • Independently design and implement features or components of a feature with minimum supervision,
  • Make informed design choices after due diligence and impact assessment,
  • Unit testing implementation to the highest quality,
  • Work closely with your peers and keep engaging in a fast pace technical design and development team,
  • Fulfill additional work-related duties as required / assigned,
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development.

WHAT EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE?

  • Bachelor’s degree In Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • C/C++ for embedded development
  • Knowledge about vision systems
  • Knowledge and experience with embedded microcontrollers
  • Signal processing expertise
  • Maker mindset and the ability to build prototype concepts
